3 Tips for Successful Event Sponsorship


What a busy couple of weeks we have had sponsoring conferences.  We really enjoyed meeting other business owners at the 2011 Super Conference, as well as the UFG Franchisees.

Sponsoring conferences can be a mixed bag for many business owners. Here are three tips that The Cartridge Family recommends to ensure that your next sponsorship opportunity is a success.

What a busy couple of weeks we have had sponsoring conferences. We really enjoyed meeting other business owners at the 2011 Super Conference and the UFG Franchisees.

Do you sponsor conferences or events to connect with new or existing customers? Have you had success?

Sponsoring conferences can be a mixed bag for many business owners. Here are three tips that The Cartridge Family recommends to ensure that your next sponsorship opportunity is a success.

  1. Be prepared. Make sure that you list what you might need for the event well in advance. A great idea is to have a rolling suitcase (with a list inside) of all the small things you will need. Don't forget pens, sticky tape, a stapler, adhesive velcro, scizzors and packing tape. One item that we cannot live without at a conference is double-sided tape. It's amazing what you can do with double-sided tape!
  2. Have an outcome in mind. If you wish to sponsor an event to collect data from participants a lucky draw prize is ideal to capture information. Another outcome is to "touch" existing customers where you might not want or need a data collection process. In that case, take small items to spoil your customers. Your suppliers might be able to help with supply or funding.
  3. Follow up, follow up and follow up. When participants attend a conference or event they block out the precise number of days that they need for the event. You will be busy preparing before the event, plus you will spend extended hours at the event and it is tempting to go straight back to work to catch up on your other work. Make sure that you block out time to follow up on the leads you create at the event. To help save time, we often take a laptop to the event and create lists in Excel to make data transfer quicker.
